Scottish Consortium for Learning Disability

Wednesday 3rd December 2014

This research was commissioned by the Scottish Government to support the inclusion of people with learning disabilities in the National Confidential Forum. This report presents the findings of research into the development and use of Scottish learning disability hospitals in the 20th century. The main aim of the study was to help estimate the number of people with learning disabilities who experienced institutional care in learning disability hospitals as children. The research has also helped to identify a wide range of institutions in Scotland that routinely admitted children with learning disabilities.
